* Material properties may vary based on part geometry, print orientation, print settings, and temperature. Data were measured on post-cured samples printed on a Form 3B printer with 100 µm Dental LT Clear Resin V2 settings, washed in a Form Wash for 20 minutes in 99% isopropyl alcohol, and post-cured at 60 °C for 60 minutes in a Form Cure.
Washing
Dental LT Clear V2 resin may be washed using either a Formlabs-validated wash unit (1) or an ultrasonic wash unit (2).
The foundational step in any SLA post-processing workflow is to remove excess resin on the surface of the parts through an alcohol wash. Please refer to the material's manufacturing guide/IFU for washing instructions.
Curing
For biocompatible materials, post-curing is necessary to achieve the safety standards determined by regulatory agencies. Please follow the material’s manufacturing guide/IFU for proper post-processing.
FAQ
Dental LT Clear Resin V2 is a long-term biocompatible material designed for directly printing hard splints, occlusal guards, and night guards in-house. It is Formlabs' second-generation clear resin for these indications, enabling dental professionals to produce durable, long-lasting appliances conveniently and consistently.
Dental LT Clear Resin V2 is an improved, color-corrected formulation. It is significantly less yellow than the original version and is more resistant to discoloration over time, while also polishing to high optical transparency to aid patient acceptance.
Yes. It is a long-term biocompatible material rated for skin contact and mucosal membrane contact. Maintaining dedicated wash equipment for biocompatible materials and following all post-processing steps in the Instructions for Use is required to ensure parts meet biocompatibility standards.
Yes. The material has received 510(k) medical device clearance for the production of prescription mouthguards and is also MDR certified for use in Europe.
The material is highly durable and fracture-resistant. Key mechanical properties include an ultimate tensile strength of 52 MPa, a flexural strength of 84 MPa, a flexural modulus of 2300 MPa, an impact strength (unnotched IZOD) of 449 J/m, and a Shore D hardness of 78. These properties make it well suited for patients who are heavy bruxers.
Yes. After polishing, parts printed with Dental LT Clear Resin V2 achieve high optical transparency, which supports patient acceptance of finished splints and guards.
Yes. Two post-processing steps are required. First, parts must be washed to remove excess resin from the surface using an alcohol wash. Second, post-curing is necessary for biocompatible materials to achieve the safety standards set by regulatory agencies. Detailed settings for both steps are provided in the Manufacturing Guide and the Instructions for Use.
